Imagine...The Beatles: Saturday12th September 2026
WE WERE SOLD OUT!
Musically, no detail was overlooked to re-create the true sound and excitement of The Beatles, with every song performed totally live and in its original key. Visually, their presentation was as close to the real thing as you could imagine... Close your eyes, could it really have been them? Quality stage outfits ranged from the early Cavern days through to Beatlemania, Sgt Peppers and beyond. Authentic vocals and instruments, including the McCartney Hofner violin bass, Lennon's Rickenbacker, George's Gretsch and Ringo's Ludwig kit, completed the perfect tribute.
St Mildred’s Church was absolutely buzzing on Saturday evening for FOSM (the Friends of St Mildred’s) concert with “Imagine… The Beatles”, recreating the sound, energy and excitement of the Fab Four. Around 300 people joined us for a wonderful night - such was the demand that we even had to squeeze a few extra people onto the balcony. Judging by the singing coming from above, they certainly didn’t seem to mind! The acoustics in the church were superb, the bar was kept very busy, and the atmosphere throughout the evening was fantastic. It was wonderful to see St Mildred’s so full of people singing, dancing, enjoying themselves and supporting such a good cause.

It went down an absolute storm with everyone singing, dancing and clapping along; I don't think it gets much better than that! I'm hoping in 12 months we can do the same again.”
A huge thank you to everyone who came along, to "Imagine… The Beatles" for an excellent performance, and to all the volunteers and helpers who worked so hard to make the evening such a success. A tremendous night of music, singing, dancing and fundraising for the Friends of St Mildred’s!
There were encores, sending us off with two of the most iconic and memorable songs "The Long and Winding Road" and "Hey Jude".....
The Annual FOSM Garden Party: 8th August 2026
Once again, The Annual Friends Of St Mildred's (FOSM) Garden Party was another successful afternoon held on Saturday 8th August from 4pm till 6pm in the private grounds of The Vicarage, by kind courtesy of Lindsay and Carol Hammond. The Friends with their guests arrived promptly to enjoy the perfect summer afternoon, weather wise, with a choice of sitting under the shade of the trees and several marquees, due to the exceptionally hot August weather during a record number of heatwaves in the UK. The 8th was no exception!
Refreshing drinks ranging from local fruit produced beverages, sparkling elderflower and an assortment of red and white wines were served under a shady gazebo, expertly manned by committee members. Soon enough a generous array of freshly made canapes were served, much to the delight of everyone. Mike Stevens, who held his second speech as Chairman, spoke of FOSM's successful achievements during 2025 - 2026, comprising of:
KB Collective - the first ever a rock concert, Benoit Viellefon and The Hot Club - jazz, Yuri Sabatini - Italian tenor, Big Sound Collective - Kent's powerhouse
18 - 20 piece band and a near future event - Imagine...The Beatles - to take place on 12th September 2026. With rapturous applause from all, Mike finished off with the much anticipated raffle of the day with delighted winners of many welcomed prizes.
Another splendid afternoon which has been mentioned as the highlight of the FOSM calendar! Well done to all for attending and a huge vote of well deserving thanks to the FOSM committee and to all those who contributed in some way or another.

The Big Sound Collective: 11th July 2026
The Big Sound Collective is a group of professional and experienced musicians and vocalists based in Kent. Their main goal is to create and perform great music that covers a wide range of musical styles. As an 18–20-piece Big Band ensemble they play much more than the expected Big Band and Jazz music but also genres such as Pop, Soul, Latin, Funk, and more.“We take inspiration from the types of musical ensemble that used to be widely seen and heard on recordings, TV, Radio and Theatre shows backing popular artists of their day from 1950-1980s and beyond.Our name reflects the incredible sound produced by a large musical ensemble as well as our collective approach to achieving something that sounds a bit special and not heard so much these days. We are now into our 3rd year and have steadily been building a loyal following who enjoy a great musical experience. We have a huge amount of collective experience and have a substantial library of great arrangements which helps keep our programmes varied and fresh.”
Yuri Sabatini: Saturday 6th June 2026
Yuri is an Italian Tenor who sings a wide variety of styles and music from operatic Arias to songs from the films and shows. He proves very popular wherever he sings and has an international reputation for excellence. We are very lucky to have him. He has given me an update on his evening’s programme:
“I don’t tend to work from a completely fixed running order, as I like to shape the evening around timing, atmosphere and audience response. However, there are certainly some signature pieces I can include, such as:
· Nessun Dorma
· La donna è mobile
· ’O sole mio
· Bring Him Home
· Maria
· Time to Say Goodbye
Alongside these, I’ll be performing a varied selection of operatic favourites, Italian classics, songs from the shows and cinematic music, and I’m always happy to take requests where possible. The flexibility offered by backing tracks allows the evening to feel spontaneous and personal, which audiences tend to enjoy very much.”

Saturday 21st March 2026: 1920's, 1930's, 1940's Music
Due to popular demand Benoit Viellefon is coming to play again at St Mildred's Church, Tenterden.
Previous performances have always sold out, so please book in advance. The church has just been refurbished with a new floor and underfloor heating, so everybody will be warmly welcome, and there will be space for swing dancers too.

The Hot Club will play a mix of 1920-30-40's music and will feature world class guitarist Jarrod Elks, double bass player George Trebar, world class trumpet virtuoso Mike Henry, and Swedish trad jazz sensation Bjorn Dahlberg on the clarinet and tenor saxophone.
